I went through some old data discs in a random box and found photos of my first car

I forgot how good this thing looked. But it had lots of issues. Timing belt snapped twice in two years (at highway speeds). Electrical problems. 4th gear was pretty much gone. Rode like a cloud, though. 259k miles rough miles before it was send to the great junkyard in the sky.

How was the engine not destroyed after two broken t-belts? Aren’t these interference engines?

This was way back when I knew -- and cared -- nothing about cars. Pretty sure I was 4 quarts low on oil one time, too.

Funny, usually the guys that start with Hondas become rabid VTAC fans for life. What happened?

It’s looks were only matched by its impracticality. There is zero legroom, or elbow room, in the back. Also if you were 6', your head would brush the headliner in the front seats. I fit fine though. Very comfy driver’s seat, I must say.

I have found some photos of my 3rd car/truck while looking for metro title. It’s a 90 GMC Suburban. Will post later, because actual photos.

Lumping this and my Civic DX, I’ll tell you what happened:

Socially:
- getting pulled over all the time (“How do I know this isn’t stolen?” Get fucked and give me back my paperwork, officer.
- people trying to race me all the time
- other Honda owners trying to run me off the road
- no one ever letting me merge because I’m some asshole in a “ricer”
- ladies did dig the integra, though. I thank the car for some of my young fortune

The actual car part:
- both were incredibly unreliable. The integra was a neglected high-mileage hand-me-down, we got our money’s worth. But the Civic had to be towed like four times, and we kept finding problem after problem caused by the antics of the previous owner (So, to be honest, it wasn’t the best purchase).

Things I do miss:
- both were soooo comfortable. I used to commute 500 miles a week for work and school and these were a total breeze
- the civic was fun to drive (when it ran)
- the civic got 38 mpgs
- again, ladies liked the integra
- Integra did great in the snow
- slept in both, no problem
